Moldova Not Facing Gas Shortage Despite Rising Prices

The Republic of Moldova is not facing a gas shortage for the cold season, according to Minister Dorin Junghietu. He stated that Energocom has procured over 370 million cubic meters of the approximately 390 million required for the regulated market, including storage obligation volumes.

Junghietu emphasized that the pressure on international markets, particularly in Europe, is creating certain risks due to price trends influenced by factors such as liquefied natural gas from the Middle East not reaching European markets in expected volumes and maintenance work on Norwegian infrastructure being extended.

The current purchase price of natural gas is significantly higher than that included in the tariff, Junghietu pointed out. The exact figure for October will be known at the end of September, based on the TTF Front Month index. Energocom's cumulative deviations already exceed 180 million lei, in addition to negative deviations accumulated over the summer.
