Nebraska Farmer Finds Premium with State's Sorghum Delivery Map

Central Nebraska farmer Tyler Bose has found better prices for his sorghum crop thanks to a new delivery map launched last year by the state.

Bose, who spoke at Husker Harvest Days, utilized the map to discover additional sorghum delivery locations and secured a 30-cent premium between two options. He noted that he was unaware of one of these locations previously.

The farmer has seen an increase in production costs for his more expensive sorghum fields, but this is offset by higher yields compared to dryland corn. 'Ninety bushel per acre dryland sorghum would compare to 142 bushel per acre dryland corn,' Bose explained.
