NGC Secures Critical Gas Supplies for Trinidad's Downstream Industry with Shell
The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) has secured critical gas supplies for its downstream industry through agreements with Shell Trinidad and Tobago. The NGC will supply gas from two upcoming projects, including the Aphrodite project, which is expected to come online in the second quarter of 2027.
The Aphrodite project will bring an estimated peak production of approximately 18,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), with a total of 107 million scf/d. The gas from this project will serve as a backfill for Trinidad's Atlantic LNG facility, maximizing the potential utilization of the operator's existing assets.
The NGC has also locked in a binding term sheet to acquire 50% of the volumes from the Coconut gas development, which is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2027. This acquisition will add 300 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas to NGC's portfolio and strengthen supply to the downstream industry.
The Manatee platform, part of Shell's largest gas-producing fields in Trinidad and Tobago, has departed from the Altamira Fabrication Yard for offshore waters in the East Coast Marine Area. The platform is expected to reach a peak production of around 104,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (604 mmscf/d) when it comes online in 2027.
