NNPC's Oil Security Costs Soar to Record N11.2 Trillion
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited reported energy security claims totaling N11.2tn from the Federation in 2025, an analysis of its audited financial statements has shown.
This represents a significant increase of N4.07tn, or about 57 per cent, higher than the N7.13tn energy security expense recognised in 2024.
The NNPC attributed this substantial financial burden to protecting oil and gas infrastructure against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other disruptions.
