Northeast Heating Bills Set for 50% Jump Amid Fuel Price Surge
Americans in the Northeast may face significantly higher heating bills this winter due to rising fuel costs.
The price of diesel has increased, and as a result, the cost of heating oil used in many homes in the region is also expected to rise.
William O'Neil, principal research analyst at S&P Global, stated that 'heating oil and diesel prices tend to move together,' making it likely that heating oil prices will increase by nearly 50% this year.
The National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) projects that households in the Northeast could spend up to $2.297 on heating oil this winter, a 31% increase from last year's average of $1,749.
