Oil Prices Stabilize Above $100 Per Barrel
Oil prices have stabilized at around $100 to $119 per barrel, sparking hope among oil-producing countries that they will remain within this range for the remainder of the year. This could provide relief to these nations by allowing them to reduce their debts or generate a surplus in their annual budgets.
In Kuwait, oil prices need to be above $95 per barrel to achieve a balanced budget, which is eagerly anticipated. If prices remain high, the government will have more flexibility in implementing its programs without having to cut back on important projects.
The current price level of $104 per barrel puts Kuwait's projected revenues at KD 16.3 billion and expenditures at KD 26 billion for the current year, which ends in March 2027. This is a significant improvement over the budgeted oil price of $90.5 per barrel.
Oil prices are unlikely to weaken in the coming months due to high demand and the ongoing embargo on Iranian oil exports, which is causing concern about future price levels. The low oil inventories and strategic reserves also contribute to the uncertainty.
