Pakistan Farmers Demand Urgent Wheat Policy Amid Climate Risks
Farmers in Pakistan are calling on the government to announce its wheat policy ahead of the sowing season, citing climate-related risks and water shortages that threaten agricultural production.
The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Khalid Mahmood Khokhar and All Pakistan Kissan Foundation Chairman Syed Mahmood-ul-Haq Bukhari emphasized the need for timely policy decisions, agricultural planning, and adequate returns for growers to sustain crop production.
Khokhar urged authorities to consider a proposal by the National Assembly's Standing Committee for a wheat support price of Rs5,000 per maund, which would provide farmers with greater certainty over returns.
