Russia's Grain Exports Plummet Amid Black Sea Disruptions
Russian grain exports dropped significantly in July due to disruptions in the Azov-Black Sea region.
The country exported 2.03 million metric tons of major grain crops, a decline of 37.6% from the same period last year, according to the Russian Grain Union.
This decrease was particularly evident in wheat exports, which fell to 1.8 million metric tons, down 17.7% from 2025. Corn and barley shipments also plummeted, with a 3.5-fold and 5.6-fold decrease respectively.
Elena Tyurina, director of the analytical department at the Russian Grain Union, attributed the decline to the tense situation in the Azov-Black Sea region. She noted that despite the overall drop, export volumes to several African nations grew, with shipments to Kenya and Sudan increasing significantly.
