Shell Canada Energy has made a final investment decision on the LNG Canada Phase II project, doubling the production capacity of this liquefied natural gas terminal after completion.

The project will increase the annual production capacity from 14 million metric tons to 28 million metric tons. To achieve this, two additional LNG production lines, one storage tank, and one loading berth will be added. The Phase II plant is expected to enter commercial operation in the early 2030s.

This expansion will significantly enhance Canada's liquefied natural gas supply capacity and provide long-term natural gas supply for major LNG consumption markets such as the Asia-Pacific region.
