Ski Resorts Switch to Natural Gas for Cleaner Emissions and Cost Savings

Natural gas is gaining traction as a cleaner and more efficient alternative fuel in the US. Ski resorts in Colorado, such as Aspen, Winter Park, and Vail, are leading the charge by converting their vehicles to natural gas and installing on-site fueling appliances.

Nearly every ski resort has access to nearby natural gas pipelines, making it an attractive option for fleet owners. Natural gas burns substantially cleaner than gasoline, producing 97% fewer carbon monoxide emissions, 72% fewer reactive hydrocarbons, and 39% lower oxides of nitrogen.

The safety record of natural gas is impressive, with it being lighter than air and dissipating quickly when spilled. It's also less corrosive and toxic compared to gasoline. With a 50-year supply of conventional natural gas resources in the US, conversion costs are becoming increasingly viable.
