A Togo-flagged oil tanker was struck by Iran's Revolutionary Guard while attempting to make an 'illegal passage' through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state media. The incident occurred on Thursday and the tanker reportedly caught fire before coming to a halt.

The US military disputed this claim, saying the vessel was struck by an Iranian missile last month and rendered inoperable.
