Trump Announces $54 Billion South Korean Investment in Alaska Gas Pipeline
US President Donald Trump announced plans for South Korea to invest $54 billion in an Alaska liquefied natural gas project, which is expected to be completed within three years. The project involves constructing an 800-mile pipeline carrying natural gas from Alaska's North Slope to the southern part of the state for export to Asian markets.
When asked about the high energy costs in Alaska and potential plans for another oil refinery, Trump stated that gasoline prices will 'tumble' once the war ends. However, he also attributed the decrease to several projects in Alaska, including this liquefied natural gas project.
Trump also commented on the Senate race between Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and former Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola (D). He stated that if the people of Alaska knew 'the real facts', there wouldn't even be a race. Trump plans to travel to Alaska in the weeks before the midterms to support Republicans, including Sullivan.
