Trump Rejects Iran's Plan to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions

President Donald Trump has rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global oil and gas transit. The proposal, announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday (September 25), aimed to restart stalled talks on Iran's nuclear program and included a seven-day plan to lift the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The plan would also waive sanctions on Iranian oil sales and observe a ceasefire that would include Lebanon. However, Trump dismissed the offer, calling it 'totally unacceptable' and accusing Tehran of 'playing games' with the US for nearly 50 years.

The rejection comes amid high tensions between the two countries, with both sides accusing each other of violating previous agreements. The US military has blockaded Iranian ports since April, turning back commercial vessels and striking Iranian oil tankers attempting to breach the blockade.
