Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear program within seven days. The Iranian government had offered to lift their blockade of the strait in exchange for the US lifting its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observing a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.

Trump dismissed Iran's proposal, saying they wanted to make a deal because they were 'losing so badly.' He claimed he would like to make a deal but one that would not be acceptable. This comes after Iran effectively closed the strait in February following US and Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic.
