TSX Futures Dip Amid Gold Price Fall, AI Hopes Focus
Futures linked to Canada's commodity-heavy TSX index fell on Wednesday as investors eyed diplomatic efforts to ease Middle East tensions and awaited developments in AI.
The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract dropped by 9 points, or 0.4%, with the TSX Composite Index closing higher by 0.9% at 36,335.61 on Tuesday thanks largely to gains in tech and metal mining shares.
Canadian e-commerce stalwart Shopify advanced by 7.4% after partnering with Meta on AI-enhanced shopping, while U.S. stock futures were subdued ahead of a key U.S.-China summit.
Analysts at Vital Knowledge noted that investors are waiting for news on Iran and Meta's AI agent, Muse, which has seen rapid downloads and sparked concerns over potential disruptions to the financial services industry.
