UK Natural Gas Prices Rise on US-Iran Talks Uncertainty

UK natural gas prices climbed above 230 pence per therm on Wednesday, reversing a two-day decline as markets weighed mixed signals from US-Iran talks. Qatar expressed optimism for an interim agreement, while an Iranian official downplayed the chances of ending the war soon. The ongoing conflict has kept fuel prices volatile, with Iran continuing strikes on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the US responding with limited strikes on Iranian targets.

The UK gas market faces additional pressure from falling domestic production, increasing its dependence on Norwegian pipeline supplies and global LNG imports. The country's limited storage capacity leaves it more exposed to winter supply shortages compared to larger European neighbors.
