Ukraine Grain Exports Choke on Russian Black Sea Attacks
The conflict in Ukraine has caused significant disruptions to grain exports from both Ukraine and Russia, two of the world's largest suppliers of wheat and other grains.
According to a recent report, this year's strong harvest is colliding with a worsening battle over Black Sea ports and shipping, throttling exports.
The main ports in Ukraine are under attack, making it difficult for ships to navigate the area. As a result, only about 20% of Ukraine's usual August volume was exported, while Russia's exports hit a 10-year low.
Farmers in Ukraine are struggling to store their crops and cover basic costs for the next season due to plummeting prices. 'We don't know how we will survive,' said one farmer.
