Ukraine Grain Exports Continue via Rail Despite Port Disruptions
A recent claim by SBTV's Aleksandr Tishchenko that Ukraine has been blocked from exporting grain through European territories is false. Ukrainian Black Sea ports have indeed seen a significant decline in operations due to strikes by Ukrainian drones on Russian Black Sea ports, but exports have not stopped.
In August, an average of about 160 railcars were sent daily to the EU border, up from just two per day in July. Ukraine is also increasing its rail shipments of grain to the EU, with over 100 railcars passing through a key crossing point each day.
The Russian side has imposed restrictions on freight transportation to the Port of Novorossiysk, while strikes have targeted storage facilities and terminals at Ukraine's largest port in Odesa. However, Ukrainian Railways is sending fewer grain cars to these ports and more to Danube ports and the western border.
