Ukraine Seeks US Support for Air Defences and War Risk Insurance
Ukraine's Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi met with Paul Huston, the US Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, to discuss strengthening air defences and joint defence projects. The talks focused on specific measures to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones.
The parties also discussed joint initiatives in the field of arms production and the state of the energy sector ahead of the heating season. Koretskyi reported that they centred on strengthening air defences, which is crucial for protecting cities.
Koretskyi expressed interest in increasing purchases of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US, as well as reforming corporate governance in state-owned energy companies.
Additionally, the Prime Minister proposed expanding the war risk insurance programme and counted on US involvement to support this initiative. According to Koretskyi, 'I am counting on the support and active participation of the American side.'
