Ukrainian Grain Market Sees Significant Price Drops Amid Early Harvest Campaign
The Ukrainian grain and oilseeds market saw significant price drops in August due to an early harvest campaign, late crop mowing, and high logistical costs. Wheat prices fell by 12-16% across different classes, with 2nd class wheat declining by 16.09% to 6,525 UAH/ton.
Corn prices dropped by 15.96% to 7,464 UAH/ton, while sunflower prices experienced the most significant correction, decreasing by 35.49% to 20,305 UAH/ton EXW. Soybean prices showed stability despite a seasonal export low, dropping moderately by 9.42% to 18,481 UAH/ton EXW.
The harvesting of winter rapeseed was almost complete, with 3.79 million tons harvested at an average yield of 28.6 c/ha. The harvesting of late crops has begun, including corn, sunflower, and soybeans, but weather conditions in August were characterized by a sharp moisture deficit and heat waves up to +37°C.
