US Offers $6 Billion Financing for Argentina's Vaca Muerta Gas Export Hub
The U.S. government is proposing to provide up to $6 billion in financing for Argentina LNG, a project aimed at developing the Vaca Muerta gas field into an export hub.
The funding would come through the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) and support goods, services, and infrastructure related to the project's development.
Vaca Muerta is expected to be the base of Argentina LNG's supply chain, which will involve production, transportation, processing, liquid separation, and liquefaction. Two floating liquefied natural gas units will operate off the coast of Río Negro, with a planned capacity of 12 million tons of LNG per year during the first stage.
The project also includes contracts for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning work for gas treatment plants and natural gas liquids fractionation plants. McDermott has been awarded a contract worth millions for this purpose, while Pumpco will participate in the export gas pipeline system.
