US Stocks Hold Near Record High as Brent Crude Falls Below $100
The US stock market is holding steady near its record high as the price of Brent crude oil falls back below $100 per barrel. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.2% on Tuesday, following a day when it came within 0.4% of its all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 129 points, and the Nasdaq composite was up by 0.3%. The price of Brent crude oil fell by 2% to $98.30 after reaching nearly $110 last week. It is still significantly higher than the roughly $72 it was trading at earlier this summer.
