A viral video circulating on social media claims to show fires at a Saudi Aramco oil refinery following a Houthi attack. However, an investigation by Misbar's Al-Araby TV team revealed that the footage is misleading and actually shows a fire at Libya's Zawiya oil refinery.
The video was originally posted on August 10, 2026, by an account named 'Abu Issa Al-Khair,' which later shared another video showing what it described as a fire at the Zawiya oil refinery. The footage in question shows firefighting and rescue operations, including the initial blaze.
The investigation found that the attack on the Zawiya oil complex occurred on August 10, with fuel storage tanks targeted by drone attacks. Libya's National Oil Corporation reported that tank T402 was set ablaze, causing significant damage but not affecting the refinery itself.
