Wheat Prices Tumble on Renewed Russia-Ukraine Peace Hopes

Wheat prices declined last week as traders reacted to growing speculation that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine could resume, easing concerns over grain exports from the Black Sea.

The UK's November 2026 wheat futures briefly climbed to £219.25/t before retreating sharply in line with international markets.

By Friday's close, the contract had fallen to £212.50/t, £3.25/t lower than a week earlier.

Market sentiment was influenced by comments from Russian president Vladimir Putin suggesting a negotiated settlement with Ukraine remained possible, despite previous indications that no agreement was on the table.
