Zimbabwe's Cotton Industry Shifts Focus to Value-Added Processing

Zimbabwe's cotton industry is undergoing a transformation as companies like Cangrow Cotton Company (CCC) are processing cottonseed into cooking oil, animal feed, and other by-products.

The CCC plant in Nembudziya processes thousands of tons of cottonseed every year, creating jobs and keeping more value within the country's rural communities.

Cottonseed was once treated as a waste product, but it has now become an important raw material for cooking oil production, proving that every part of the crop has value.

CCC regional manager Khumbulani Moyo said, 'Cottonseed is no longer a waste product. It has become an important raw material for cooking oil production, proving that every part of the cotton crop has value.'
