$100M Binance Deal Seals Five-Year Partnership with Circle
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has made a significant move in the market by acquiring $100 million worth of Circle shares through a private placement. The acquisition was part of a new partnership agreement between Binance and Circle, which will see Binance accelerate the promotion and integration of USDC on its platform, particularly in emerging markets.
The five-year commercial agreement also includes Binance's strategic equity investment in Circle, where it has issued 1.24 million Class A common shares to Binance. The purchase price reflects a five percent discount to CRCL's pre-closing market price.
Jean Allaire, Co-Founder and CEO of Circle, said that 'Binance has created the internet's largest financial superapp by building one of the world's largest and most dynamic platforms for the use of digital currencies.' He believes that this partnership will expand access to the dollar using USDC, support saving and investing with innovative digital asset products, and reach people and businesses in emerging markets globally.
Binance Co-CEO Richard Teng also commented on the partnership, stating 'Circle has solidified its position as one of the world's most trusted issuers.' He added that Binance's $100 million investment and five-year commitment represent a long-term belief in Circle's vision to build a more inclusive, transparent, and harmonious digital economy.
