$766 Million Lost to Crypto Hacks: Exchange and Sidechain Vulnerabilities Exposed

Share

Crypto platforms and their users lost around $766.4 million in September through exploits and phishing, according to CertiK's monthly tally.

The figure is roughly three and a half times the August total of $215 million, making it the month with the highest number of individual incidents in 2026.

Two incidents account for more than 92 percent of the monthly total: the attack on Bitget on September 24-25, which cost around $387.5 million, and the Liquid Network hack on September 6, which saw $319-$320 million disappear.
