Aave Expands Collateral Scope Beyond Crypto and Securities

Aave's founder and CEO Stani Knežević plans to expand the protocol's potential collateral base beyond crypto assets and securities. According to him, Aave could eventually include energy, computing hardware, robotics, and space infrastructure in its list of eligible assets.

The categories that might be added are solar energy, batteries, graphics processing units, and robots, as well as assets tied to space infrastructure. This move is based on the idea of addressable collateral, which suggests that a larger pool of assets can lead to a greater lending market.

Aave began with crypto assets and later expanded its potential collateral base to securities, including tokenized stocks and other real-world assets. The goal is to finance assets associated with an era of abundance and accelerate the process by about 10 years.
