Altcoin Season Index Hits 56, But Threshold for Official Season Remains Elusive
The Altcoin Season Index has reached its highest level in months, standing at 56 out of 100. However, this reading is not enough to declare an altcoin season, as that threshold is set at 75. The index measures the performance of top cryptocurrencies over a 90-day window and shows a neutral market for three weeks since September 2.
Broad participation from altcoins has led to their outperformance in recent days, with $XRP rising by 6.59% to $1.5540 and Solana increasing by 4.42% to $118.20 against Bitcoin's 1.58%. Ethereum added 2.35% to $2,703.80 and BNB 1.33% to $776.44.
The recent weekly performance of altcoins has been impressive, with NEAR Protocol gaining roughly 92% in a week, while Arbitrum, Uniswap, Ethena, and Zcash have all posted gains above 40% over comparable periods.
