Armenia Rises as Major US AI Infrastructure Hub
Armenia is rapidly becoming a significant hub for American artificial intelligence infrastructure. The landlocked country of approximately three million people hosts two operational AI data center facilities powered by NVIDIA's latest Blackwell GPUs.
The larger project belongs to Firebird AI, an American company that launched its flagship facility in the city of Hrazdan in August 2026. Initially, it deployed 6,144 NVIDIA B200 GPUs consuming 15 megawatts of power. The company plans to scale up to more than 70,000 advanced NVIDIA chips and 300 MW of capacity by the end of 2027.
Firebird initially committed $500 million in 2025 but expanded that figure to $4 billion in February 2026. This announcement coincided with a visit from US Vice President JD Vance. The company has structured its deal to share the wealth locally, reserving 20% of the facility's computational resources for Armenian domestic use: government agencies, research institutions, and local startups.
A second facility was opened by Eleveight AI in June 2026 in the town of Gagarin, deploying 512 NVIDIA Blackwell B300 GPUs. The company plans to scale up that site to 40 MW of total capacity. Armenia's existing engineering talent and abundant hydropower resources are crucial for this endeavor.
The US-Armenia semiconductor memorandum is linked to a peace framework with Azerbaijan endorsed by the Trump administration. However, challenges remain, including the enormous water consumption required by data centers at this scale.
