Binance Introduces Lite Loan for Small Retail Investors
Binance has introduced Lite Loan, a new borrowing product that lets eligible users borrow up to $1,000 USDT against their Bitcoin (BTC) holdings without selling their assets. This offering is different from Binance's existing loan suite in that it does not require a minimum loan of $50,000 USDT, making it accessible to small retail investors.
The launch of Lite Loan follows research by Ledn, which found that 88% of crypto holders would consider borrowing against their digital assets. However, only 14% currently do, citing concerns about price volatility and the risk of forced liquidations.
Lite Loan's unique feature is that it does not trigger liquidation due to BTC price movements for the first 30 days. After this period, interest accrues at 36% annualized, calculated daily. If the loan remains unpaid after 60 days, the pledged BTC will be liquidated to cover the outstanding balance.
Borrowed USDT can be used for trading on Binance or for payments through Binance Pay. The product is restricted to verified Binance master accounts that meet the exchange's compliance requirements and hold enough BTC to secure the loan.
