The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, is once again under scrutiny from U.S. prosecutors over potential Iran sanctions violations.

A new probe by the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office and the Justice Department's criminal division is examining whether Binance allowed Iran-linked transactions to pass through its platform.

Binance CEO Richard Teng responded to the investigation, stating that the exchange has 'zero tolerance for sanctions violations.'

The investigation follows a civil forfeiture complaint filed in September that sought over $61 million in USDT tied to alleged Iranian oil proceeds.
