Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, is under scrutiny after sharing data of a Ukrainian donor with Russian authorities. According to Reuters, Binance provided transaction records and personal information of Yuri Belenkiy, who sent over $700 to support Ukraine's military.

The transfer was made at the request of Russian law enforcement, which used the information as evidence in a terrorism-related investigation. This case has raised concerns about data protection rules, particularly under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Binance withdrew from the Russian market in September 2023 but still responded to local authorities' requests after its exit.
