Bitcoin Surges 40% Amid Macro Uncertainty, Gold Correlation
Bitcoin's price has risen by 40% since July, reaching new heights amidst macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical tension.
One explanation for this surge is the increase in Bitcoin ETF inflows. In mid-July, these funds faced net outflows of $5.8 billion for the year, but two months later, they had turned positive with a net inflow of $800 million.
However, Dominic Basulto notes that it's unclear whether the price of Bitcoin is going up because ETF inflows are increasing or if the opposite is true.
Another possible explanation for the rise in Bitcoin's price is its correlation to gold. Some investors view Bitcoin as a potential hedge against inflation and geopolitical instability, much like physical gold.
