Bitcoin Surges Above $87,000 as Weak Jobs Data Reduces Rate Hike Expectations
Bitcoin's price climbed above $87,000 on October 2, following the release of weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data. The nonfarm payrolls rose by just 29,000, below the expected 84,000 to 90,000. This reduction in job growth led to a decrease in expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike this month.
Ripple made progress in its plans to introduce native lending infrastructure on the XRP Ledger. The company opened the LendingProtocolV1_1 amendment for validator voting, which includes closed-ended lending vaults and cash-basis accounting. This amendment must activate alongside the original LendingProtocol and SingleAssetVault amendments, requiring more than 80% support from trusted validators for two weeks.
Shiba Inu's price rose by 13.5% in September, marking its strongest monthly performance of 2026. The token also recorded a daily golden cross on October 2, the first such signal in almost two years. Additionally, SHIB reached 1,693,365 on-chain holders during September.
