Bitcoin Surges to $85,000 Amid Improved Regulatory Environment
Bitcoin has made significant gains in recent months, nearing its eight-month high of $85,000. The cryptocurrency's price surge comes after a difficult year that saw it plummet to nearly 34% below its value. Analysts attribute the improvement in Bitcoin's price to the regulatory environment for crypto, which has greatly improved.
According to Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan, the sector's momentum during President Donald Trump's tenure was unexpected. He points out that Trump appointed pro-crypto regulators and issued orders to create a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, among other initiatives. As a result, Hougan suspects that prices will catch up with fundamentals by the end of the year.
Analysts at BTIG also weighed in on the matter, stating that if Bitcoin can hold above $75,000, bullish investors will push through to $90,000. The crypto publication CoinDesk reported that Bitcoin closed last week above its 50-week moving average for the first time in over 11 months.
While some remain skeptical about the cryptocurrency's future, others see potential in assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. These tokens have been viewed as long-term hedges against inflation and currency debasement.
