Bitcoin Tumbles Below $62,700 Amid Broader Crypto Market Decline
Bitcoin plummeted to $62,700 late Monday before recovering to $63,220 according to CoinMarketCap data. This significant drop marked a 3.36% decline in the asset's value over the past 24 hours, with the broader crypto market following suit and experiencing a 3.42% decrease.
The total market capitalization fell to $2.25 trillion due to this sharp decline, as major altcoins like Ethereum, XRP, and Solana also saw significant losses. Ethereum dropped 2.5% to $1,828, while XRP and Solana declined by 1.5% and 2.3%, respectively.
According to Min Jung, associate researcher at Presto Research, the move below $63,000 reflects a broad deterioration in crypto sentiment rather than a single fundamental catalyst. He attributed near-term pressure to macro headlines around tariffs and renewed geopolitical uncertainty, which are reinforcing a risk-off tone across digital assets.
