Bitcoin's Price Cycle Shifts Towards a More Mature Market
Bitcoin has continued to defy expectations by holding up remarkably well despite significant macro headwinds in 2026. The asset's price currently stands at around $84,000, roughly 34% below its all-time high of $126,000 reached exactly one year ago in October 2025.
The fact that Bitcoin has withstood these challenges suggests that the traditional pattern of a major drawdown following a peak may be changing. In previous cycles, a peak of this magnitude would have been followed by a decline of 70% to 80%, wiping out most gains and resetting the market from scratch.
However, the current cycle has seen smaller percentage gains from the halving price and smaller drawdowns from the peak, indicating a maturing asset rather than a broken one. The halving still matters, but it is no longer the sole driver of the market.
