Bitcoin's Technical Outlook Turns Bullish Amid GENIUS Regulations and Macro Support
Bitcoin's technical outlook has turned bullish again, according to James E. Thorne, chief market strategist at Wellington-Altus. Thorne points to the cryptocurrency's strong technical structure, market demand, and macro backdrop as signs of a potential 'supercycle.'
Bitcoin held its key long-term moving average during the correction following its 2025 peak, and the 30-week and 40-week exponential moving averages have moved from declining to rising trends. This signals a transition in the medium-term outlook from bearish to bullish. Weekly momentum indicators are also supporting the move, with no negative divergence currently evident.
Thorne's assessment extends beyond technical indicators to changes in the broader market structure surrounding Bitcoin and digital assets. He argues that developments involving GENIUS regulations and tokenization are helping move Bitcoin and the wider digital asset ecosystem beyond a primarily speculative role and toward greater integration with financial-market infrastructure.
The strategist cited the U.S. presidential cycle as part of his broader market outlook, noting that historically, stock markets have entered periods of particularly strong performance during this stage of the four-year presidential cycle. Macroeconomic conditions, he said, are also beginning to become more supportive for Bitcoin, with improving productivity, wages, and manufacturing employment, and eased inflationary pressures.
