BitGo CEO Challenges Anthropic's AI to Steal $3 Million in Bitcoin
BitGo CEO Mike Belshe recently challenged Anthropic's AI model to steal 100 BTC from his company's institutional custody platform. The challenge was sparked by Anthropic's announcement of three cybersecurity incidents involving their AI model, Claude.
The incidents included multiple Claude models unintentionally reaching the public internet after evaluation environments were mistakenly connected online instead of remaining isolated. Belshe questioned the severity of these incidents, suggesting that they pointed to configuration failures rather than impossible technical breakthroughs.
To demonstrate his point, Belshe funded a Bitcoin address with exactly 100 BTC and challenged Claude to move the coins. The wallet received the funds on July 31, but as of August 2, blockchain records still showed the full balance untouched.
