Cardano Founder Urges Gemini to List ADA Again
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has once again called on Gemini to list ADA, reigniting a long-standing dispute over the exchange's refusal to support the native token of the Cardano blockchain.
The latest push came after Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss marked the exchange's 11th anniversary with a birthday message on X. Hoskinson responded with a simple request: "List ADA." Despite Gemini's expansion to include other major proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies like Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), and Tezos (XTZ), ADA remains absent from the platform.
Hoskinson has a history of teasing Gemini over this issue. In December 2022, during Gemini's struggles with crypto lender Genesis, he joked that not listing ADA seemed correlated with bankruptcy and reckless behavior. Later, in September 2024, he appeared near Gemini's booth holding a sign that read "Wen ADA?" In 2025, he estimated that Gemini had missed out on about $70 million in revenue over five years due to its decision not to list ADA.
Gemini's official listing policy considers factors like maturity, liquidity, market demand, utility, regulatory considerations, cybersecurity risks, and control concentration. However, the exchange has never publicly addressed why ADA remains excluded.
