The Cardano network has launched RealFi, bringing real-world credit exposure to its blockchain ecosystem. The launch marks years of development around lending in emerging markets, with USDrf and yield-bearing sUSDrf tokens now available on the platform.

According to Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, RealFi is part of a broader effort to connect blockchain finance with underserved borrowers. Speaking at the United Nations, Hoskinson compared blockchain technology to earlier exponential technologies, including nuclear technology, the internet, and artificial intelligence.

Hoskinson noted that these technologies can progress slowly before their impact accelerates, citing the example of renewable energy growth in Germany. In 2025, renewable sources supplied 55.9% of the country's electricity, exceeding earlier forecasts.
