Cathie Wood Fires Back at Jason Calacanis Over Bitcoin Criticism
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood has defended Bitcoin against criticism from venture capitalist Jason Calacanis, who described it as 'technologically stale' and a 'fading technology'.
Calacanis said that Bitcoin's recent price move was a 'dead cat bounce', referring to the brief rally above $80,000. Wood responded by saying that Bitcoin is 'not a dead cat' and has many lives ahead.
Citing institutional adoption, Calacanis compared Bitcoin to CDs in the Spotify era and DVDs in the Netflix era, stating it has lost its spark and settled for a mundane role as a store of value. He also called it 'poorly suited for everyday transactions and smart contracts' with an intimidating user experience.
Saylor, Strategy Executive Chairman at MicroStrategy, jumped to Bitcoin's defense, pointing out that its $1.6 trillion valuation makes it a significant player in the digital capital landscape. He argued that preserving wealth across generations is more important than entertaining oneself.
