CLARITY Act Fails to Clear Senate Hurdle as Clock Ticks Down
Crypto investor Kyle Chassé believes the CLARITY Act remains alive despite its uncertain path through the U.S. Senate, where it currently faces a 60-vote hurdle.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act for short, aims to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets and clarify the roles of key agencies like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The bill's prospects were dealt a blow on September 15 when it failed to clear a procedural vote in the Senate, receiving only 50 votes in favor while falling short of the required 60 votes.
Chassé points out that the Senate is now facing a limited window to advance the legislation due to the approaching November midterm elections, which leaves little time for further consideration or negotiation.
