CME Group Expands Crypto Offerings with BCH and UNI Futures
CME Group, the leading derivatives exchange, is expanding its cryptocurrency offerings by adding Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) futures to its lineup on October 19. This move aims to provide a regulated route for institutions restricted from offshore crypto venues to trade these tokens.
The addition of BCH and UNI futures follows the exchange's trend of catering to institutional demand, as Giovanni Vicioso, Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products at CME Group, stated: 'As crypto markets continue to mature, participants require broader, regulated tools to navigate evolving digital asset related price risk.'
The standard UNI futures will cover 10,000 tokens per contract, with a micro version at 1,000. Standard BCH futures will cover 250 tokens, micro at 25. At current prices, one standard UNI contract represents roughly $90,000 of exposure and one standard BCH contract about $69,000.
While CME listings have not historically been automatic price catalysts, the announcement has already caused a 5% jump in UNI's price and nearly 10% increase in BCH's price. The impact on these tokens' prices will be closely monitored after the launch to determine whether institutions are actively building positions.
