Coinbase has confirmed that a security incident at its analytics vendor, Amplitude, exposed contact information for some of its customers. The exchange emphasized that its own systems were not breached and that customer funds remain secure. The incident affected a small number of Coinbase users, along with other clients of Amplitude, according to a post on X by Coinbase Support.
The disclosure comes amid a wave of cyberattacks targeting both cryptocurrency exchanges and traditional financial firms. In South Korea, Bithumb is investigating a potential breach of its internal work platform that may have exposed customer data, while Daishin Securities reported a leak affecting 38,490 customers' personal and credit information.
Coinbase has not yet responded to Cointelegraph's request for details on how many customers were impacted by the Amplitude incident. The exchange previously disclosed a separate data breach in May 2025, which affected less than 1% of its monthly transacting users and resulted in estimated reimbursement and remediation costs of up to $400 million.
