Coinbase has made changes to its trading fees and VIP pricing tiers. The changes took effect on September 16, 2026.

The entry threshold for qualifying volume has been lowered from $25,000 to $10,000, a reduction of 60%. This will allow more customers to access lower published rates.

Customers can now also use USDC balances as a route to preferential pricing. The exchange considers the customer's trailing 30-day spot volume, eligible derivatives volume or USDC balance when determining their tier level.

The new framework uses whichever is most favorable among these measurements. For USDC balances, customers need at least $500,000 for Advanced 1, $1 million for Advanced 2, and $5 million for Advanced 3. VIP levels require $10 million in balance for VIP 1 and $15 million for VIP 2.
