Crypto Group Fairshake Targets Bipartisan House Races with Millions in Spending
A leading cryptocurrency campaign group, Fairshake, has revealed a bipartisan list of House candidates it will support ahead of the November midterms. The organization plans to back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in spending. All 32 lawmakers supported key legislation that stalled in Congress this year.
The group's spending comes after Senate Democrats blocked the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets. In response, Fairshake announced plans to spend nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio, one of the most competitive races of the cycle.
Fairshake emphasized its bipartisan approach, highlighting its investments in primaries and special elections this year. The group reported spending $40 million on 29 Democratic candidates and $31 million on 28 Republicans, winning 53 of the 57 races it engaged in. Geoff Vetter, a spokesperson for Fairshake, stated that the organization supports pro-crypto candidates from both parties.
Senate Democrats' blocking of the CLARITY Act has raised concerns about future negotiations. Rep. Ruben Gallego noted that passing market structure legislation will require 60 votes, making the deal more difficult after the election.
