Crypto Market Expands Pool of Participants Rather Than Competing With Wall Street

The crypto market has been growing alongside traditional Wall Street volumes, rather than cannibalizing them. Binance's perpetual futures linked to traditional-market assets made up 37% of its perp volume in August.

These contracts took the top spots on Binance's trading volume chart, with SNDK beating out even BTC-USDT. The growth is not coming from taking market share away from traditional exchanges, but rather expanding the pool of participants and increasing overall liquidity.

Nasdaq President Tal Cohen has cautioned that extended trading hours can lead to lower liquidity and higher volatility, while Shunyet Jan, Head of Exchange & Trading at Binance, notes that connecting global demand can broaden access to U.S.-linked assets and support a deeper, more global liquidity base.
