Crypto Markets Tumble Amid Rising Oil Prices and Stalled Iran Talks
Bitcoin's price fell below $83,000 on Monday as a broader sell-off in cryptocurrencies coincided with rising oil prices and higher Treasury yields. The decline came amidst stalled U.S.-Iran talks that pushed Brent crude towards $108 per barrel.
The five-year U.S. Treasury yield rose seven basis points to 5.06%, while Nasdaq 100 futures fell 1%. This market volatility has the potential to impact investor confidence in cryptocurrencies, particularly with two major U.S. economic releases scheduled for this week.
Bitcoin traded near $82,600, down 2% over 24 hours, while other cryptocurrencies such as Zcash (ZEC) and Solana (SOL) also declined by more than 4%. The Federal Reserve's decision to raise its policy rate on September 16th has contributed to the market uncertainty.
The upcoming releases include the Personal Consumption Expenditures report on Wednesday, September 30th, at 8:30 a.m. ET (12:30 UTC), and the September employment report on Friday, October 2nd, at the same time.
